The construction of the Academy of Nature in Hajnówka is starting

The contract is already signed

Yesterday, the city handed over the construction site to the contractor.

As we informed, the Academy of Nature will be built on the site of the former Bartnik inn Parkowa Street. Recently, demolition works were carried out there by the Municipal Services Company in Hajnówka. The first stage of the investment will begin soon, i.e. the construction of a facility that will include a conference and workshop room, accommodation and a Local Product Center.

The implementation of this part of the investment will be carried out by Archime sp. z o.o. from Białystok, which won the tender (submitted an offer for PLN 8,999,000.00). There was great interest in the proceedings – a total of ten companies took part in the tender (the cheapest offer was over PLN 7.3 million, but was withdrawn, the most expensive was over PLN 13.7 million). The city has already signed a contract with the contractor, and the construction site was handed over yesterday. The work is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year.

Let us remind you that the Academy of Nature is an investment under the “Hajnówka ReNewal – Green Transformation” project. This is an innovative idea that aim is to turn the city into a wide-ranging nature education center. The Academy of Nature is intended to be a place popularizing knowledge about nature, educating in an attractive and accessible way. This is a place where there will be laboratories and exhibitions, where it will be possible to organize workshops, meetings and green schools. The offer of the Academy of Nature is intended to be interesting both for young and old, for residents and tourists. The AN concept was created in cooperation with partners: the Białowieża National Park, the Mammal Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Białystok University of Technology. Jacek Protas, Deputy Minister of Funds and Regional Policy, who came to Hajnówka for a conference summarizing the project in mid-March, spoke with great appreciation about the initiative.

Soon, children from big cities will have the only opportunity to commune with nature in places such as the Academy of Nature. We used to experience nature every day. Today, children think that milk is produced in a factory. We cannot confine them to school walls, we should expose them to nature.

As we wrote, the investment will be divided into stages. As part of the Norwegian funds (and additionally also the Polish Order Government Fund), the first stage of construction will be implemented, as well as preparation of documentation for the entire facility. The city will apply for external funds to implement the next stages.
