We have a surprise for those traveling by train. In addition to admiring the extraordinary views, you will be able to hear about the history of the railway and the places it passes through. The audio guide is now available.

It was created in cooperation with the Hajnówka Forest District, as part of the “Hajnówka ReNewal – Green Transformation” project. Before we get into the details of the project, let’s start with some practical information. The audioguide is now available in the Hajnówka Spiritual Vitality application. If you haven’t installed it yet, it’s worth doing it by clicking on this link https://www.hajnowka.pl/strona/dla-turysty/940-aplikacja-hajnowka-duchowa-witalnosc. The audio guide was created to make your time spent in the forest district more enjoyable. Thanks to it, you will find out what interesting things you can see here. First, a little history of the narrow-gauge railway, which is over 100 years old, including an explanation of where the characteristic track width came from. The voice in the headphones will also tell you where to buy tickets, and once you do, where to direct your steps while you wait for departure. It is definitely worth visiting the open-air museum. Here you will learn the history of the historic steam locomotive. We will tell you that during his technical life it traversed the length of the Earth’s equator as many as 25 times! It is also worth visiting the locomotive depot, where you will hear more interesting facts. If you were wondering, for example, where the name Topiło, through which the cable car route runs, comes from, you will find out the answer here. You will also learn about the history of beekeeping in the Białowieża Forest.

The route to Topił is 11 km long and the journey takes an hour. You will learn how the railway transformed from a means of transporting wood at the beginning of the 20th century into a tourist attraction in the early 1990s. While admiring the views, you will hear a fascinating story about the natural treasures hidden in the Białowieża Forest.

The audioguide is available in two versions: Polish and English. We hope that it will make traveling by narrow-gauge railway even more attractive.
