Competition for pocket park project settled
Twenty-five works by architecture students of the Bialystok University of Technology were submitted for the competition. Three will be awarded – they were selected on the basis of the sum of votes of residents and members of the competition committee.
Recall that the projects concerned seven locations:
- St. John Paul II roundabout
- roundabout of Archbishop Miron Chodakowski
- Białowieska/Piłsudskiego
- Lipowa/Dowgirda
- 3 Maja/Armii Krajowej
- Wróblewskiego/Miłkowskiego
- City Park/City Hall.

The submitted works were of a very high standard. The best-rated project No. 2A is distinguished by the innovativeness and originality of the presented solutions and most accurately meets the regulatory assessment criteria and fits into the idea of developing Hajnówka in synergy with the Białowieża Forest. The whole gives the impression of a carefully thought-out and professionally designed space that meets the needs of various user groups, mainly young people.
When assessing the competition projects, each member of the competition committee took into account criteria such as consistency with the competition assumptions, aesthetics and originality. The votes cast by Internet users were also important. A total of 1,117 were received and they were distributed as follows:
project no. 2A – 265 votes
project no. 1B – 141 votes
project no. 4C – 119 votes.
The winners were selected based on the total votes cast by residents and members of the competition committee.
